Practical Test
Your test starts with an eyesight test (You must pass this for your test to continue)
You will then be asked a combination of show me tell me safety checks.
After entering the car the examiner will tell you to follow the road ahead unless signs or road markings say otherwise, and if he wants you to turn he will tell you in good time. Test routes are designed to be as uniform as possible and will include a range of typical road and traffic conditions.
During the test, the examiner will ask you to carry out 2 reversing manoeuvres, choosing from the following:
| Reverse around a corner | (also known as left reverse) |
| Turn in the road | (also known as 3 point turn) |
| Reverse parking | (bay park or parallel park) |
You may also be asked to do an emergency stop
Throughout the test you should drive in the way your instructor has taught you. If you make a mistake "don't panic" concentrate on what you are doing, not what you've done. It may be less serious than you think! and may not affect your result. The examiner is not expecting a perfect drive, he will be looking for an overall safe standard of driving.
